The following data protection regulations apply to all PowerGuru ( services. This statement shall provide you with information about the handling of personal data collected during the use of PowerGuru services. Before you engage in public activities, you should be aware that any personal information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other visitors to these areas, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages.

Registration data

The majority of services can be used free of charge and without registration. Should you wish to submit an article, take part in a raffle or make use of similar services, registration and authorization is required. This shall require you to create login credentials by selecting a password and providing an email address. Further personal data that may be submitted voluntarily are telephone number, name of the company/organisation you are working for, photograph, etc. These data are processed, stored and used to the extent to which they enable us to provide our services.

Personal data may only be used or transferred to third parties with  the user’s express or implied consent to do so or if  the user does not deny use according to the provisions of law. We shall be permitted to transfer personal data in the following cases without your consent:

- when we appoint service providers to assist in order processing, such as editorial tasks.

- if we have the statutory or legal duty to transfer personal data. In this case we will inform you immediately of the data transmission providing it is legal to do so.

Tracking Information

Tracking information collected such as IP address (temporarily), date, time, use of the website, internet sites accessed, type of browser, etc. are stored to enable us to identify and remove possible technical errors or abuse of this website or its services. This data will not be used to create personal user profiles but solely:

- to improve our range and services and to measure traffic and the general traffic pattern.

- to inform the author on how his/her article has been used, to inform advertisers on users’ habits and characteristics or for market research.

Cookies (Google Analytics)

Like many other websites, PowerGuru also uses ’cookies’ to identify you as a client and to offer personalised services. Beyond that we would like to know which services are used most frequently and how long users stay on specific websites. To do this, we use Google Analytics, an internet analysis service provided by Google Inc. (Google). Cookies which enable us to analyse usage are stored on your computer. The information gathered by these cookies concerning your usage is transferred to a Google server in the US and stored.

Google uses the information transferred to analyse the usage of the PowerGuru website, to create reports for advertisers and to render further services associated with the website. In addition Google may transfer this information to third parties provided that this is required by law or that those third parties are processing data on behalf of Google. To ensure a tailored design and optimum performance of this website, solutions and technologies by econda GmbH ( not only collect and store anonymized data, but also utilize this data to compile usage profiles by means of pseudonyms.

Cookies can be used for this purpose which make it possible for an Internet browser to be recognized. Without the express consent of a visitor, however, usage profiles will not be stored together with data pertaining to the pseudonymous visitor. IP addresses, in particular, are rendered indecipherable immediately after receipt, which makes it impossible to match a usage profile with an IP address.
